Children
GVLC's Children's
Ministry is committed to leading families into a growing
relationship with Jesus Christ. Each of our programs
is designed with each individual child in mind. From
our nursery to grade 6, our goal is to provide age-appropriate
learning opportunities through various channels, including
drama, music, arts and crafts, reading books and the
Bible, games, and discussion. Our goal is to equip families
of all shapes and sizes with the tools necessary to
nurture and develop a Christian home.
Nursery
Golden Valley
Lutheran Church is a congregation that welcomes all
families and children during our worship time. Children
are invited and encouraged to attend the worship; however,
a staffed Nursery is available for children infant-kindergarten
who may need more activity. Our worship services can
be heard and seen from the Nursery.
Nursery care
is provided during both worship services on Sunday morning
and for special worship services throughout the year.
Nursery care is also available
evenings during the year when adult or parenting classes
are offered.
Nursery
care is provided in a warm,
loving environment for our infants, toddlers, and preschools
while in the nursery.
Sunday
School
We believe
Christian education is important for children of all
ages in our church community. One of our goals at
GVLC is to effectively and creatively teach the Bible
to children and families.
Ø Sunday School for age 3 - grade 5
will meet from 9:40-10:30
each Sunday.
For children in grades
1-5, the kids will be divided into
small group with an adult leader and high school helper
in each group. Small
groups will focus on building relationships with one
another and with their leaders, digging deeper into
the scripture lesson for the day, helping kids apply
what they have learned, and teaching memory work.
Small
groups will also gather together for a large group lesson
presentation using drama, storytelling, puppets, music
and prayer.
Our
preschool and kindergarten children will be in self
contained classrooms with consistent, loving staff.
Their lessons will also be presented in a creative manner
using a variety of puppets, drama, echo pantomimes,
storytelling, and others. Their lessons and activities
will be specifically geared for 3-5 year olds and will
follow the same lessons as grades 1-5.

Families in Ministry Together - beginning Fall 2009!
Serving others opens our hearts as well as the hearts of the people we are serving. Families with children age 3 through grade 5 will have the opportunity to participate in a monthly service project. This will be a chance for families to do something for others and build relationships with other families from GVLC. Watch the weekly bulletin and the monthly newsletter for details each month.
Parent
Education
Golden Valley Lutheran Church believes that
parents are the first and most important teachers of
the faith in their children's lives. To help parents
succeed in this role, we provide a variety of parent
education classes throughout the year.
